The Gaia Center is a creative education institute encouraging creativity into every individual’s life. With courses in drama, communication, art, illustration and writing, Gaia is a safe space for learners of all ages to explore and express themselves.
First as speech/debate trainer and then as creative writing instructor, I worked with students to help translate their imagination into words. This included lessons in writing short stories, scripts, comics, journalism pieces and blogging. All while dotting their "i"s, and appropriately placing those irreverent commas.
Then there's DREAMSPEAK, the annual theatre production, where my creative writing learners contributed to the script I coauthored for three years. In 2016, the production topped Trinity College London's certification in Performing Arts in the UAE! Here's a glimpse into the madness.
workshops
What's the fun in learning things if you can't share them? Besides, there can never be enough conversations on cultural connections and creative education.
While taking my lessons on the road, I have led sessions on Writing Superheroes into Reality at the Middle East Film and Comic Con and discussed the layers of cultural tourism at the Rowad Al Seyha Initiative for the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority.
I have also assisted in drama and communication workshops in middle and high schools.
content WRITING & editing
Words have the ability to change and direct a conversation. While I like to dabble across formats, I specialize in blog posts, article writing (short & long form), business writing/editing and press releases.
In the past, I've edited/proofread research papers at the University of Amsterdam and Center for American Progress, and drafted speeches for government and private leaders during my time at the Embassy of India in Washington, D.C.
My clients include individuals, businesses, government & non profit entities. I contributed regularly to Wamda, a leading online publication on entrepreneurship in the Middle East, and published pieces on Maptia, Afterschool, and The Root.
